The Post — Official Trailer

The Post”, based on real-life events, covers the pentagon’s cover up of the disastrous war in Vietnam. This movie is timely as the freedom of the press is threatened. Spielberg’s expert lens shines a light on the role of the press for the well functioning of democratic institutions. The movie is powerful in its emphasis of the editorial responsibility of journalists. By weaving narratives from disparate strands of information, they create stories that serve as a catalyst for political action and, ultimately, change. The masterful performances by Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks reveal the media’s power in abetting social transformation. In today’s environment where we have access to an infinite amount of information; methodic, fact based, nuanced story telling is necessary more than ever.
